Actually, the Triumphal Entry did not occur on a Sunday…it happened on the Sabbath i.e., Saturday. Unfortunately, the traditional Christian denominations do not understand the significance of ‘Shabbat’ HaGadol. This was the day that God commanded the Jewish people (the 10th of Nissan), that each Israelite household (or combination of households) must take pick a lamb to use for a sacrifice on the Passover. Obviously, Jesus was aware that he was exhibiting himself as the “Passover Lamb,” while the folks at that time seem to have been celebrating his raising of Lazarus.
Unfortunately, the Christian tendency to discard the God given Jewish feasts and establish their own Holidays has done much to place barriers for our Jewish brethren to believe the Jesus as the promised “Messiah.”
