It is unfortunate that mainstream Christianity, i.e. Catholic and Protestant have ignored their rich Jewish heritage and the meaning of the Jewish Feasts and Holy Days. What you call Palm Sunday was actually Shabbat Hagadol. It was the day (10th of Nissan) that the lamb was selected by the household to be slaughtered for the Passover (14th of Nissan).

It is therefore evident that Jesus on this feast of Shabbat Hagadol is proclaiming himself the Passover Lamb.

Jesus’ ministry begins with the proclamation by John the Baptist: ”Behold the Lamb of God who taketh away the sins of the world.”

His ministry ends with his own declaration of being the Passover Lamb on Shabbat Hagadol (Palm Saturday).
